Justin finds inspiration in the landscape. His paintings are as much about the world we make as they are about the world that makes us. He is especially interested in the interaction between the built environment and its geography, trees and plants, and in the quality of light and color unique to each location. He works in a variety of media, including oil paint, gouache,acrylic, and digital, on a range of surfaces from traditional linen to wood panels, aluminum, and even handmade paper.
Justin’s art has been exhibited at galleries and museums across the country, including Salt Lake Arts Center, Blue Star Contemporary Art, the U.S. Botanic Garden, Grounds for Sculpture, Southern Methodist University, and the Jaffe-Friede Gallery at Dartmouth College. Justin holds an MFA in Visual Art from Rutgers, and a BA in Studio Art from Dartmouth College and has studied various visual art traditions in his travels from Italy to Korea.
