The Banded Butterflyfish is always strikingly beautiful. Usually found in pairs, they flit about the reef, swimming through soft coral or presenting themselves magnificently against the orange backdrop of an elephant ear sponge. I’ve tried to capture both the beauty and the stunning starkness of the Banded Butterflyfish in this piece by emphasizing the black and white coloration with just a touch of yellow in the tail and anal fins. I’ve seen and photographed numerous Banded Butterflyfish while diving in Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean. This artwork is fish-shaped and is a wall-mounted assemblage. The actual piece may vary from the photography because, you know, fish age.
