This piece, Corsi, and Shrix (2008) are the two paintings that stick out most in my mind as being the most arduous. I’ve spent up to 82 hours total creating a single painting, and although 33 hours (the amount of time I spent on Corsi) may sound like nothing in comparison, Corsi was one of the most time-consuming per square inch... ...yes, I have done those kinds of calculations on paintings like Corsi. A huge reason why I create such intricate paintings is to feel the immense sense of accomplishment I feel when I complete one. The sense of accomplishment after finishing Corsi was huge, because this painting sat unfinished in my apartment for almost two years. The original sketch on Corsi required me to be extremely exact with the quarter- and half-inch line measurements. Inconsistency in the angles and lines would throw off the illusion of depth and movement. Taping off the corners also required me to cut several pieces of tape very precisely to fit the angles. But...thirty-three hours later, I created one of my favorite pieces.
