Our physical world is a sumptuous place: the transience of light as the Earth spins is a beautiful thing to watch. Never abrupt, the change from daylight to nightlight is a gradual softening of what we can see. Sometimes I imagine the coming of night as though it is more abrupt, like something cutting into something.
