monotype on paper

In the later 1990's, I created a large body of monotypes. These are unique images, made with a printmaking press. Paper is soaked. A bare plate is smeared with ink to create an image. It is then printed. This piece was created with multiple plates, all printed simultaneously. The image recalls a photograph taken by a good friend who visited France. Stairways present the energy of possibility - they are tantalizing and inviting. They can also be mysterious, particularly when they the lighting is dramatic. While this piece is currently unframed, it can be framed within 2 weeks. It frames out to about 28"x23"wide, with archival matting.
