A depiction of Saint Michael slaying the demeon. This piece is inspired by a Gothic wood sculpture at the MET museum in NYC. In this piece I wanted to capture the lightness of being such a dominate force. It's displayed with the color, brushwork and composition. Michael is at ease. Almost as if he playing with his pet. The serpent is barely visible underfoot. Gnawing at the blade. His body fading into the background. With this piece I want the viewer to feel at ease. It's light and airy. The religious-ness is taken out of the piece by the light and playful strokes and vagueness of detail. The Saint is more a beacon of light than a religious symbol.
