Original oil painting (made in early 2018) based on a drawing in my sketchbook journal, from late 2017. I made the original observational ink drawing during sunset at a train station in Zamiin-Uud, a border town on the Southern edge of Mongolia. This illustration is part of a larger series from that sketchbook, which tells the story of how I retrace Kublai Khan's 13th-century path with trains in the 21st century. Copies of the original drawings are also featured in my zine "Manman Yawaarai" (2018).
