This is a view of the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, NY, from near 3rd Street, looking west/northwest from the eastern bank. The lighting was a critical part of what made this attractive to me: the low light of a late afternoon meant that most of the scene is in shadow with only certain surfaces lit up, including the dramatic cloud formations.
