An explosion of pinks and reds, and quite a variety of greens, made this painting a joy to paint, especially on dreary winter days at the studio. The two girls have supporting roles by providing a place for the eye to rest in the midst of all the bright colors. As an avid gardener, I’ve been a member of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for many years. Their Cranford Rose Garden has a stunning collection that flowers over many months starting around June. I generally don’t paint subjects that are obviously beautiful, but occasionally this rose garden has been irresistible!
