This painting is about several things for me at the same time. When I sketch in my notebooks, I often fill the space around my sketches with scribbles. The time I spend making these sketches is one positive way I help to silence the static or clear the cobwebs. I wanted to try and explore these gestural marks in this painting. They are like the layers of static or noise that exists in my mind. If we aren’t careful that static can take over and drown out what is important. The flowers in this painting are vibrant, loud and are overpowering that noise. On my journey I’m learning how to seek out the beautiful things in my life and to tame the noise.
