Lives and works in San Francisco, CA
Scott Idleman creates imaginary worlds inspired by real world phenomena including aerial views, microscopic imagery, migratory patterns, Americana quilts and Aboriginal art in his paintings and drawings.
Scott arranges the simple components of his dense, abstract works into detailed compositions that undulate, radiate and recede in seemingly infinite space.

Scott arranges the simple components of his dense, abstract works into detailed compositions that undulate, radiate and recede in seemingly infinite space. His repetition of forms suggests the inherent yet sometimes incomprehensible logic of both the cosmic and cellular, while spontaneous twists and puckers preserve the elements of wonder and surprise in his tightly woven, tessellated work.
Scott received his B.F.A. from Kansas City Art Institute with a degree in graphic design. After a period in New York, Scott settled in San Francisco in 1991. Along with his art studio practice he maintains a design studio, Blink, which specializes in eye-catching graphics for the book publishing, music and fashion industries.
