Make note everyone! Charles Basman has his own YouTube channel full of wonderful painting tutorial videos. Everything from learning how to paint your pet's portrait to tips for painting in Plein Air can be found amongst the treasure trove of pure goodie goodness that is the Basmanstudio YouTube Channel.

I asked Charles a bit about how he got started with his tutorials. Check it out below!

Can you tell me a little bit about when you started the channel? How did you came to making these videos?

I started my channel, Basmanstudio, in November 2019. It started as a suggestion from a friend, who knows I am a teacher and suggested that I promote online art instruction. I was hesitant at first, but decided to try it. With the help of my brother, Albert Basman, who edits the videos, I started my Youtube channel.

What do you feel is the goal of these videos?

For me, the goal of these videos is to reach a larger audience so that I can not only promote my work but to reach a larger audience with my art instruction.

How do you feel these videos have informed your practice, if at all?

I would say that the Youtube channel has helped me experiment with new ideas, and also helped me push boundaries with my art.

How long does it take you to make these videos?

Making the videos is a two-step process. First is the actual filming of the video, then it is edited with the aid of my brother Albert Basman, who is my producer as well. This all takes about four days.

Who is your target audience?

My target audience for my channel is basically anyone interested in learning to paint and draw, or even artists who are interested in learning about new materials. I also like to reach anyone generally interested in the arts, as some of my videos are not only lessons but are about me sharing my artwork.
